Serving as a lector or liturgical reader is a unique opportunity to deepen one’s own faith through prayer and preparation and to communicate that faith by making the Word of God come alive for the assembly. A lector is expected to: be a registered parishioner who is in full communion with the Catholic Church, be a responsible adult or young adult, be committed to the Ministry of the Word, and have good reading skills.
Communion Ministers

Communion Ministers commit to serving the Body and Blood of our Lord during the Mass. To become a Communion Minister, you must be a registered member of St. Mary's Parish and be fully initiated in the Church. Candidates must receive a mandate from the Bishop or the Vicar General of the Diocese, be trained, and then commissioned.
Ushers and Greeters

Ushers and Greeters may be used to seat parishioners and visitors, facilitate offertory collection, and help people with disabilities feel more comfortable.
Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the priest and congregation during Mass. This is an important ministry both of prayer and service. Servers are called to be special, visible models of a prayerful spirit at Mass. Altar Servers must be registered members of St. Mary's Parish and must have received their First Holy Communion.

Sacristans ensure that parishioners have available to them a clean, comfortable and peaceful atmosphere in which to worship. The sacristan also makes sure the materials the priest needs for Mass are readily available.
  CCD Teachers

CCD religious education teachers oversee classes from September through April on Sunday mornings for pre-kindergarten through sixth grades and Sunday evenings for seventh grade through young adult.
  Youth Group Leaders

Youth Group leaders assist CCD teachers in planning and directing the activities of the Youth Group. Our Youth Group offers many programs and activities to meet the needs of our young people from seventh grade through high school by developing relationships, and providing programs where they can develop their personal self-worth and their gifts.
  CCD Helpers

CCD Religious Education Helpers assist the CCD Teachers during class on Sundays.

Our choir uses guitar and vocal music to encourage participation in the 9:00 a.m. Mass each Sunday. New members are welcome. There are no regular practices, but please contact Allen Drake, phone 309-527-2479, if you want to participate.
